The Society of Illustrators is proud to announce the second annual Comic and Cartoon Art Competition.
Open to artists worldwide, entries are considered by a jury of professionals, including renowned cartoonists, illustrators, publishers, and editors. The competition will result in an exhibition that will showcase the most outstanding works created in this genre throughout each year.

The original works will be exhibited in the MoCCA Gallery at the Society of Illustrators from June 9 through August 15th, 2015.

Opening Award Galas will be scheduled where Medals and Certificates will be presented to the artists whose works are judged best in each category.

All accepted entries will be reproduced in a full color catalog.

The Association of Illustrators (AOI) in partnership with London Transport Museum, is delighted to announce that submissions are now welcome for The Prize for Illustration 2015. This year the theme is London Places and Spaces.
London has inspired countless great works of art, each reflecting aspects of the City’s unique character and qualities. The Prize for Illustration 2015 looks to continue this tradition by taking the theme of London Places and Spaces and invites submissions from illustrators throughout the world.
Each City space, however large or small, has its own distinct personality and uses, by all sorts of people for all sorts of activities. Grand scale architecture or wildlife oasis; internationally famous or local and secret; places for commerce, work, leisure and living. Contemporary architecture, historic treasures, and the vernacular; rivers, reservoirs and wetlands. Imaginary or real, past or present, the only essential element is London.
The aim of The Prize for Illustration 2015 competition is to attract artwork for display that is colourful, inspiring and celebrates a vibrant, multi-layered London. Entrants are invited to visually capture an iconic or lesser known place in a single image. We want to see the quiet and contemplative to the crowded and loud, the imaginary or real to the past or present. Any place or space that is part of this amazing City and how we use it is welcome – your imagination is the limit.
Impress the jury with your illustrated interpretation of a London place or space and be in with a chance of having your work displayed at the famous London Transport Museum and winning the top prize.
Prizes will be awarded in three levels:
First prize: £2000 and display of the winning image on a London Transport Museum poster
Second prize: £1000
Third prize: £750
There is also the possibility that your shortlisted image will be featured on merchandise sold in London Transport Museum`s shop.
The competition is open to illustrators and students of illustration throughout the world. The top 100 entries selected by a panel of judges will be displayed in an exhibition at London Transport Museum that will open from May and run until August 2015. The town of Mulazzo and the International Organisation of Book Towns present the second edition of the International Illustrated Silent Book Contest expressly dedicated to Silent Books, that is, illustrated books without words.

Given that the illustrated book and the visual language of illustrations and pictures is in no way secondary to written language, with a universal power and potential that supersedes any barrier of language or genre, the Silent Book Contest invites authors and illustrators to think up and design a book conceived exclusively for the telling of a story through illustrated images, on any subject and intended for a wide and diverse section of the reading public, regardless of genre or age.

For each book project sent to the competition (max. 3 per author) a complete layout should be created. The layout must be a single digital file with a maximum size of 10Mb, exclusively in high quality PDF format. The book project should be presented on double pages with a format of 57cms in width by 28.5cms in height (to give a closed format of 28.5cms x 28.5cms and opening from right to left).

Entry fee is 50 Euro (approx. 68 USD).

Eligibility

Participation is open to all illustrators of any nationality, place of birth or residence, provided that they are over the age of 18 on the 31st of December 2014.

Prize

From the book designs sent to the competition, an international Jury will select from five to ten finalists to be announced at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2015.

The author of the book project selected as winner by the International Jury will receive an award of Euro 4.500 (approx. 6,120 USD) as advance against copyright with regular publishing contract, and the winning book project will be published by Carthusia Edizioni.

The book will be presented at the award ceremony to be held in August 2015 at Montereggio di Mulazzo (Italy).
