Are you a budding comics artist? Do you have a character you're just dying to show to the world? Can you place them inside a scenario or take them on a journey with just a few panels of story?

Create a comic strip is a new competition just for adults 18 years and over.
Younger than 18? Enter our create a character competition.
Please note: you must be a member of Auckland Libraries to enter!
Not a library member? It’s free for all Auckland residents. Sign up online or at your local library.
Entrants can submit multiple pages for each character (e.g. drawings, description, and/or story) and can enter multiple times, but entries will not be returned.
Use the entry form or your own paper – it’s up to you, but an entry form must be included when you enter the competition either online, or at any branch of Auckland Libraries.
Entries close on 30 September and winners will be notified by the end of October 2014.

Terms and conditions

• The competition closes on 30 September 2014. Winners will be notified at the end of October 2014
• You must be an Auckland Libraries member to participate.
• Only original characters and storylines can be used. That means no copyrighted characters or storylines.
• This competition is open to adults 18 plus.
• You can enter multiple times and entries can be as many pages as you like.
• Entries must be suitable for a general audience.
• By submitting a comic strip you agree that it can be reproduced for publicity purposes by Auckland Council.
• The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Comic Book Month loyalty cards

Keep track of how many graphic novels you've read during September with an Auckland Libraries Comic Book Month loyalty card.
Once you've stamped all ten spots on your card, put it to one side and start a brand-new card. Gather together all your loyalty cards at the end of the month and find out if you're the most extreme comic book reader in Auckland!
The top-five highest number of loyalty cards entered will receive amazing comics-related prizes, with one grand prize winner being crowned the most extreme comic book reader.
